About Wheeler House Flowers

Situated in the gardens of the historic 1848 Wheeler Mansion in Fairfield, Connecticut, our flower farm nurtures and cultivates specialty cut flowers for markets, designers and private clients. We are dedicated to growing our blooms organically and without the use of any pesticides or insecticides.  Our reward for such an approach is a balanced ecosystem with a side benefit of beautiful blooms that last much longer than conventionally grown flowers.

Rosalina Thomas, proprietor, farmer

After trying and failing to get her family to eat all of the fruit and vegetables coming out of the expansive garden, Rose planted a cutting flower garden and never looked back.  Her father's family were rice farmers in the Philippines and Rose spent her summers planting flowers with her father when home visiting on the weekends.  Following years as a successful media and technology executive, Rose loves applying new growing strategies to her farm and bringing the beauty of local flowers to her community.

About the house...

Built during the American Civil War, the Wheeler Mansion was the family summer home of Samuel H. Wheeler, a Chicago tycoon and co-founder of the Wheeler and Wilson sewing machine company.  Multiple generations of the Wheeler family inhabited the house followed by only 5 additional families, including the creator of the Superman comic strip.  The house has been featured in designer showcases as well as charitable house tours.
